What you get with a Val Water Co softener

Hard water is the biggest water problem in San Diego, Orange, and Riverside counties. Our softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale, and the same tank filters chlorine and chloramine, so you do not need a separate filter for taste and smell.

✓

No more scale

Ion exchange pulls hardness minerals out of every gallon. Spotless glassware, easier cleaning, and less buildup on fixtures, in the water heater, and inside appliances.

✓

Softer skin, hair, and laundry

Soft water lathers better, so you use less soap and shampoo, and showers leave skin feeling less dry.

✓

Chlorine and chloramine filtration

A layer of granular activated coconut shell carbon treats the disinfectants in city water, for better-tasting water at every tap.

✓

Protects your plumbing and appliances

Less scale means water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines, and faucets work easier and last longer.

✓

High flow, no pressure loss

Built for whole-house demand with a 30 GPM valve, so several fixtures can run at once.

✓

Lifetime tank warranty

Plus coverage on the valve and electronics, and a labor warranty on the install. We service what we install.

What is inside the tank

The tank is built in three layers, so one unit does two jobs: filtering first, then softening.

Layer 1

Granular activated coconut shell carbon

Treats chlorine and chloramine. Made from renewable coconut shell and designed for long filtration life.

Layer 2

USA-made high-capacity softening resin

10% cross-linked resin removes hardness and resists chlorine and oxidation for a longer service life, with high flow and no pressure loss.

Layer 3

Polishing gravel

Supports the resin bed, keeps water flowing evenly, and prevents channeling.

A modern control valve

The Provalve control head uses ceramic discs for longer life and less maintenance. It is easy to program, keeps its settings in long-term memory, and has a 72-hour memory backup, so a power blip does not wipe your setup.

Frequently asked questions

What size softener do I need?
It depends on your hardness, number of people, and plumbing. Our standard system has 48,000 grains of capacity, a 10" × 54" tank, and 27 GPM of system flow, which suits most homes. We confirm sizing when we quote.
Does it also remove chlorine?
Yes. The tank includes a layer of granular activated coconut shell carbon that treats chlorine and chloramine, so you get softening and filtration in one system.
Do I have to add salt?
Yes. Salt-based softeners regenerate with brine, so the brine tank needs salt added from time to time. How often depends on your water hardness and household use. We will show you how.
Will it lower my water pressure?
The system is designed for high flow, with a 1" bypass and a 30 GPM valve, so it should not noticeably restrict a typical home.
How long does installation take?
Most softeners install in about two to three hours. Your water is typically off for about 45 minutes to an hour. We protect your floors and clean up when we finish.
What warranty comes with it?
A lifetime warranty on the tank, plus coverage on the valve and electronics, and a labor warranty on the install.
How much does it cost?
Every home is different, so we give a flat written quote with no surprises. Financing is available and checking options takes about 3 to 5 minutes with a soft credit check.
